One spot of light can be enough
to detect a tiny flower.
Its life in the wilderness is tough
to resist stronger plants or shower.
Who catches the light has already won:
the plants can prosper and grow,
whereas those that permanently shun
the limelight eventually slow.
The light of public attention, however,
is a danger all of its own.
To avoid it seems to be awfully clever,
you’re freer when you are unknown.
