Unlike street lamps

Sunflowers turn their heavy heads
always towards the sun.
Their yellow beams outshine the reds
of roses unlike none.

They do not waver in their plight
to greet a summer day,
but close their flowers in the night
when street lamps have the say.

Unlike street lamps sunflowers can
provide not only light
but oil and seeds to nourish man.
We love how they can fight.

Aus meinem Buch:

Interesting pictures prompted contemporary thoughts to be put in concise rhymes. They became a booklet for some pleasurable days – or just poems which might provoke thought or even opposition.
