If old age claims that they are sage
youth retorts with their right to feast.
Such quarrels often lead to fights
which never profitably end
because insisting on one’s rights
won’t help a clashing rip to mend.
Every tree shows better ways
to combine the old and new.
Common ground and wisdom stays
as a hold for progress, too.
