Old things and people need not be
useless although of course
the beauty once meant rank and key
has lost its brilliant force.
Time plays our estimates for fools.
Our judgement lacks far sight.
Enthusiasm slowly cools,
loses the zest to fight.
But what was once the best design
and loved and bought by all
finally shows the sure decline
that ends a certain fall.
