Should a shoe be old and worn
and no longer good,
the laces either gone or torn
the soles held what they could.
But you decide to throw away
such dear and worthy fellows
would be a shame. So their decay
openly slows and mellows.
Now everybody sees they’re good
as ground for plants to grow,
which makes you think, perhaps you could
recycle things to go.
