As the world’s population grows
so does the need to eat,
and we do hope that someone knows
how to produce the feat.
What we produce serves different needs:
economy must grow.
But where this spiral really leads
is what one cannot know.
We haste to meet challenges far
in global competition,
import by ship or train or car,
forgetting malnutrition.
