It certainly looks as if a boat
could escape the clouds that loom,
and with pride we stand and gloat
hoping to escape our doom.
But we know, of course, and feel
that the weather gets us fast,
and sailing on an even keel
needn’t necessary last.
In the long run we admit
nature has its way with us.
We might be technically fit,
but in the end it dwarfs us thus.
