Not only grey

An artist’s eye sees more than grey,
but when depression reigns
you are hard pressed to like and stay
when not much else remains.

It takes some work to find the hope
to overcome your grief,
and until you can learn to cope
the time will not be brief.

And now and then you might fall back
into the pitch dark hole
where grey is lighter than the black
and thus can save your soul.
