That’s how the trouble once began:
man wanted to know more.
Whose fault it was, the snake or man,
is up to the old lore.
Adam said Eve was to blame,
Eve said, no, the snake.
In the end both felt the shame,
paradise was at stake.
So all the knowledge of mankind
cannot give back the state
that could suffice the simple mind.
Repentance comes too late.
