There’s no in between from water to land.
On water you float and on land you stand.
Liquid or solid are contrasting states,
which means either one or the other rates.
But along a coast these two do meet,
sometimes with brutal forces or sweet.
Powerful waves tear holes into rocks,
or wash smoothly plain even granite blocks.
And sometimes the ocean’s peaceful touch
of beaches invites us to relax very much.
We forget the power of water and think
we are safe where we stand and eat and drink.
