The remains of a fence

A fence is only a borderline
either for neighbours or cattle.
A complete circumference would be fine
to avoid invasion or battle.

When fences, however, become obsolete
by mutual understanding,
and neighbours peacefully compete
there is no need of branding.

The fence posts can remain as signs
of difference and division.
Common agreement now entwines
nations – a wise decision.
