The jib here points towards the sky,
but when you need its sail
it is let down the sail to tie:
dangerous in a gale.
That’s why you often find a net
under the jib to stand,
until the top front sail is set
or pulled down when you land.
A lowered jib can be a pain
to steer in smaller places,
when you try to stop in vain
the jib rams what it chases.
