Rooftops that never carry snow
can be built just flat.
So cisterns decorate them so
that all roofs have a hat.
This hat, of course, deserves respect.
It is not doffed for others.
It doesn’t put up with neglect
although it hardly bothers.
It keeps its water warm and clear,
rainwater cleans its floors,
which is extremely rarely here
but when it rains it pours.
