In the limelight

No artificial light must shine
where nature shows its splendour.
The morning sunrays do just fine,
a thank you to the sender!

Exposed in limelight you stand bare
for people to admire
your looks or when loudspeakers blare
to focus on desire.

The crowd sees what they want to see,
which might completely differ
from what you really long to be,
not like this poppy, stiffer.

When transparent to all around
hard covers would allow
to save the centre you have found
before you have to bow.

Aus meinem Buch:

Life represents us with an astonishing variety of beauty. This is why when I see a photo or a picture, it might inspire me to put my thoughts in a rhyme. Picture and rhyme belong together this way. – When the reading becomes too difficult, try a second time, or a third, and you’ll understand what I want to say, I hope.
