In between

The land forlorn lies in between
the water and the sky.
Any intruder will be seen
from far, should he so try.

An island is protected by
the water all around.
And sometimes it stands out quite high
as mountain or as mound.

But from the sky you see it lie
like a secluded place
between the water and the sky
giving the land a face.
