We look at things from former times
and tend to see romantic sides.
However, like today, then crimes
were ugly, hateful, no smooth rides.
The work was hard, and people died
of illnesses we cure today.
They suffered pain romance belied,
but without pills infections stayed.
And in the darkest age of man
those who knew to ease the pain
were burnt before released by ban.
Today, we hope, there’s no disdain.
