Burn out

The sole purpose of a candle lies
in its burning out.
For people it is less than wise
ignoring what’s about.

To them the burning is a loss
of energy and power
that melts away and leaves a gross
feeling that makes them cower.

They cannot lift their heads in pride
and tell you to get lost,
nor take the troubles in a stride,
because they payed the cost.
