As if

As if the birds could talk like us
and listen closely, too,
sit still and not make any fuss
nor big hullabaloo.

Such is the overall impression
of the three young birds:
like grown-ups in an earnest session,
not bleating, frenzied herds.

If an opposing point of view
should prove to be correct,
the politicians listen, too,
and, of course, show respect.
