The outstretched hand

The outstretched hand tries to reach
someone in peaceful hope.
Greetings in foreign countries teach
you different means to cope.

You trust in someone who you greet
with handshakes as a rule.
Though false intentions can defeat
the good ones when a fool.

One hand alone does not make peace,
nor does a word heal sores.
It doesn’t help all hands to grease
thereby defying laws.
