Last spots of snow have vanished in the air.
The ground below lies open to the light.
Without a blanket naked and still bare
it now presents a sad and brownish sight.
BUT see, the sun has woken
what in the earth did sleep.
And thus the soil has broken
and shows what’s buried deep.
First flowers suddenly break through
as if the winter could not stop their life.
And greener leaves soon covers the ground, too,
to demonstrate our nature’s annual strife.
