A wheel

How many dowels can you count
or else how many holes?
And did they serve as points to mount
the wheel on different poles?

I have no sensible idea
as to the use of it,
though as a real eye-catcher here
imposing it felt fit.

The invention of the wheel
was a major act
to make progress become real,
least so much is a fact.
